History of the Heart Gallery
The Heart Gallery was started when Diane Granito, a Social Worker with the New Mexico Children, Families and Youth Department, launched a unique partnership with the arts community in 2001. Their efforts received national attention in Camera Arts Magazine sparking the interest of Connecticut photographers Sandy Hale and Christine Breslin. In 2003, they approached the Connecticut Department of Children and Families (DCF) and secured the commitment of other local photographers who would donate their time and materials. That was the beginning of the Connecticut Heart Gallery.
