Join professor of twentieth century history, Robert McLaughlin, on December 11, as he brings you through the history of Scotland. Take a trip back in time, from 1707 up to present day. McLaughlin will also speak upon how Scotland is currently facing a referendum on independence, which is expected to take place in 2014. The lecture begins at 4:45 p.m. followed by an informal meet and greet with Mr. McLaughlin and a gourmet meal in the Terrace Dining Room. Tuesday’s at Duncaster are held at the Duncaster Retirement Community, 40 Loeffler Rd., Bloomfield.
Aside from teaching in the College of Arts and Sciences at Hillyer College, McLaughlin also authored the book Irish Canadian Conflict and the Struggle for Irish Independence 1912-1925, which was recently published this year by the University of Toronto Press.
Attendance is open to all and pre-registration for each event is required separately. For Duncaster residents who are also Fellows of the University of Hartford, the programs are free.
