| | | By Dr. Pamela Trotman Reid, President, Saint Joseph College
1. Know yourself and what will work for you? Assess your strengths and weaknesses. 2. If you want to be a leader then jump in front of a parade. have the courage to take on responsibility. 3. Say yes. be willing to work. 4. Develop your skill sets. 5. Set your own goals instead of relying on what everyone else is doing. 6. Work for balance based on your priorities. 7. Know the rules for work and play. Know them and follow them. 8. Be ready to act. Prepare yourself mentally and with skills to take advantage of opportunities. 9. Get Mentors as many as possible! 10.Persist, persist, persist to overcome barriers.
