Scholarships
Purpose: To foster academic excellence and achievement through incentive and reward; to emphasize the necessity for high academic standards; and, to provide business support to students who exemplify those qualifications needed to compete successfully in today's global economy. The Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce wishes to support academically qualified, well-rounded students who intend to pursue a career in a business field.
Rules/Guidelines: -- Applicant must be a resident of Bloomfield, CT -- Applicant must have spent two or more years at Bloomfield High or Metropolitan Learning Center (includes current year) and graduating by June 2007. -- Applicant must have a 3.0 (B) average for the Junior Year. Please mail a copy of your Junior Year Report Card and an official transcript to the address indicated below. -- Acceptance at an accredited post-secondary school. Submit letter(s) of acceptance or list of schools applied to with your Guidance Counselor's supporting letter. -- Provide 2 letters of reference from individuals other than a family member (guidance counselor, employer, mentor, etc.). Reference letters must be on official letterhead. -- Complete and submit Scholarship Application Form. Incomplete applications will be disqualified. -- Finalists agree to a 10-minute interview with the Chamber's Scholarship Committee (May 8). Results of the interview will be taken into consideration when selecting a winner. -- Applications and all supporting materials must be postmarked by April 13, 2007. Mail requested documents to: Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce, P.O. Box 938, Bloomfield, CT 06002. Applications are also available at the Chamber Office located at 330 Park Avenue, Bloomfield. -- Winning recipient(s) will be notified in May.
